APPEARANCE Jecht possesses what some people would refer to as "rugged good looks." His long dark hair seems to be perpetually messy, and falls just past his shoulders. In order to make sure it stays out of his line of sight, he ties a red bandana around his head.
He has quite a dark complexion, being that he trains out in the water during the day so often. That training is no walk in the park, either, as evidenced in the numerous scars that he seems to have all over his body. Across his chest, he sports a large tattoo of the Zanarkand Abes' symbol.
His left arm is covered from his shoulder all the way down to his gloved-hand, in flexible armour, much like that of his son's. For clothing, he wears a pair of black shorts, and his left leg is adorned with a sort of gradient cloth, which ranges from an orange-ish yellow, down to dark red.
His left wrist is also bandadged. Traces of a sports injury, perhaps? Battle wounds?

PERSONALITY Jecht is loud, brash, rude, and unrelenting in many walks of life. If he has something to say, you're going to know about it whether you like it or not. "Tact" isn't really a word in his vocabulary, which is obvious from the start. Hard-headed and stubborn as a bull, it's next to impossible to get him to change his mind on something once it's made up. Sometimes, it's even harder to get him to listen to reason. And believe me, he will find a way to accomplish his goals, one way or another.
He's over-confident to the point of cockiness, which can at times, get him into heaps of trouble that he often finds himself trying to get out of. Definitely the type to act first and think later. He has an overwhelming need to rely on himself and no one else; making it hard for him to trust people, even when he believes that they have good intentions.
Of course, when Jecht DOES care about something or someone, he dedicates himself to that person or purpose whole-heartedly, without question. He is hardly shy in the face of controversy, and often encourages people to stand up for themselves and their ideals.

ABILITIES / WEAPONS / STRENGTHS Jecht is the self-proclaimed king of blitzball, which means that he is quite physically fit (not to mention strong), has fantastic stamina and endurance and can't be too shabby in the agility field, either.
As far as weapons go, he prefers to fight with a longsword in one hand, and whatever defensive equipment he has armed on the other.

WEAKNESSES Jecht seems to lack the ability to think something through before acting on it, which can sometimes get him wrapped up in some pretty heavy consequences. He also doesn't seem to really know how to apologize for something he's done; leading him to act terribly awkward when he knows he's wronged someone important to him.
Of course, his biggest set-back is his absolute inability to express his feelings. He comes with a lot of layers, even though he would deny that fact tooth and nail. It just takes a little while to scratch below his rough exterior.
He tends to show his affection in the most inappropriate of ways, the most obvious being how he acts towards his son, Tidus. He obviously wants what's best for the boy, to grow into a strong and capable man, but seems at a loss of what to do when it comes to the child. So instead, he conceals his emotions and replaces them with a rough exterior instead, coming across as harsh and uncaring at times.

HISTORY Jecht grew up in the lap of luxury in the city of Zanarkand. He was athletically gifted and knew it, which lead to him become, what most believe, the greatest blitzball player of all time. As the years passed, he only seemed to gain attention and popularity as the star player of Zanarkand's team from A-East, the Abes. Eventually, he took a wife who bore him a son that they named Tidus. It may not have seemed like it, but Jecht loved the boy with all of his heart, wanting nothing more than to see him grow up into a strong and confident man. Parenting didn't come easily to him though, and his "tough love" was interpreted by the boy as neglect and disdain, which caused a rift between the two.
When Tidus was still young, Jecht somehow made contact with a mysterious creature that was laying dormant in the ocean while he was in the midst of training. It was then that he was transported to the world known as Spira, landing straight in the capital city of Bevelle.
As he ranted and raved that he was from Zanarkand, the priests considered him a madman, and locked him up for uttering such things about the holy ruins. Only one man that came to visit him in his cell -- the summoner Braska, chose to believe his fantastical story. Giving Jecht hope that there was a way to return to his city, the blitzer took him up on the offer to accompany him on his long trip north, along with the cut-and-dry monk, Auron.
Along their trip, Jecht seemed to mature slightly as a man and father, even going so far as giving up his greatest vice -- drinking. Intoxicated, he had attacked a shoopuf thinking it was a fiend, costing Braska all of his travel money to pay for the damages. He gave up alcohol then, for fear of embarrassing his family back home, and also because of the grief he caused his new-found comrade.
As they reached Zanarkand and the truth behind the spiral of death was revealed, Jecht offered himself as the sacrifice to become the Final Aeon. He had reached the conclusion that he wouldn't be able to return to his home anyway, and this way -- he could do some good for this world.
To Auron, he wanted only the promise to look after the son he had left behind.
